The Legend
The legend of the Opera House is a mysterious tale of events that will
leave you wondering. Built in 1903, originally for a local secret society, the Opera House known as “Dreamland”
came to life at night. People would walk for miles to hear the live entertainment. However, everything was no always so content…
During the 1920’s a distraught lover with a visiting Vaudeville troupe from New York hung himself in the old attic rafters.
Staff and customers still report that they feel that they are being watched while working up stairs. The ghost of the man is not the only restless
spirit to haunt the winding staircases and dark hallways. The tales of the other strange occurrences reported by visitors
stem back to the early 1900’s when the Church owned the land The Opera House was built on. Many believe that because
souls could not be buried on this sanctified ground, they are condemned to wander its halls forevermore The Opera House
was mysteriously and suddenly closed in 1961, and remained so for over 15 years. Under new ownership unconfirmed reports of strange
occurrences have begun again. Evidence of these curious events are shown in mysterious photos taken at the club: some have
the imprint of faces on walls, or images of strangers standing in the shadows. If you find yourself walking in the dark, watch
your step. La, La, La.
Memorabilia
Some of the most famous of the
pieces found within the Opera House walls include a dress that once belonged to
Marilyn Monroe, a shirt worn by Patrick Swayze, a shirt from the film Species worn by Natasha Henstridge. The famous Alien prop
form Alien 2 that used to stand in the Hollywood Studios main lobby rests
upstairs in the Scruples Lounge.
The Opera House is also home to
authentic signatures from Harrison Ford to The Creature of the Black Lagoon,
original, functional Gladiator armor, life statues of Indiana Jones, the Mummy
and Hannibal the Cannibal. However, there is many more pieces throughout the
winding staircases and darkened hallways that you might have walked past, or
pieces high above your head you hadn’t noticed, pieces that move, pieces that
speak, pieces you will have to see to believe.
The Opera House Tours will give you
a sight into the building you have never seen before, first-hand ghost stories,
upstairs memorabilia not yet featured for the public, and even some stories
that bring back memories.
